Job Summary

Responsible for the accurate and efficient scheduling, admitting and registering patients across the hospital while demonstrating patient focused care.    As often the first point of contact for patients, this role will provide customer services including the role of cashier and switchboard operator for internal and external customers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Health Services Office Administration diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology course required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience within a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience with patient scheduling and registration modules is essential and experience with Meditech is preferred.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training or equivalent preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel).
  • Accurate keyboarding skills (minimum 50 wpm).
  • Proven ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent telephone etiquette and ability to share important information to the team, our patients, and community support partners in an accurate manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment where patients are experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and willingness to be flexible to meet department needs.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism and confidentiality.

Hours of Work:  In order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7.  There is the expectation that you are available to work weekdays, weekends and all shifts (days & nights)
