Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the hospital staff, patients, volunteers, physicians and visitors which includes ensuring protection of hospital possessions and property; performing routine checks of systems and equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate of a Community College Law and Security Program, or
  • Graduate of a recognized police training facility or equivalent.
  • Current certification with Private Investigator’s and Security Act (Bill 159 legislation).
  • Three years of previous experience in dealing with the general public in a law and/or security role preferred.
  • Current use of force and/or non-violent crisis intervention training an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with those under the Mental Health Act.
  • Experience with security technology and access control systems.

  • Proven ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions.
  • Exhibits confidence, assertiveness and control behaviours.

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job with a tolerance for continuance walking

Hours of Work:  In order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7.  There is the expectation that you are available to work weekdays, weekends and all shifts (days, nights, 12 hours).

Other:  All job offers will require compliance with our COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for proof of full vaccination (two doses) unless provided with a medical exemption or an accomodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
