Job Summary

The Clinical Leader is responsible for patient flow and the coordination and direction of all patient care, staffing related activities and for supporting Externs’ practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams. 

The Clinical Leader collaborates with Physicians, Directors, Managers, Team Leads, and other staff members to ensure teamwork, achievement of the targeted outcomes, and the effective and efficient use of the resources within the hospital. 

 

The Clinical Leader will responsible, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating the direction of all patient care and flow within the nursing units of the hospital to ensure effective communication between interdisciplinary teams;
  • Collaboration with leadership, managers, physicians, team leads and team members to ensure effective coordination of efforts for optimal patient care;
  • Contributes to quality improvement, including IPAC strategies on the weekends and holidays across all hospital programs;
  • Supports the planning, education, and integration of Externs; and
  • Provides direction and guidance to manage issues as they arise. 

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses (CNO) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum two (2) years recent leadership experience in a small/medium community hospital.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in discharge planning, preferred.
  • Current BCLS Certification required.
  • Current ACLS Certification is preferred.
  • Experience in infection prevention and control, preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching, working with learners and/or precepting.
  • Strong understanding of processes and systems in an acute care setting is required.

  • Awareness of community supports and services for identified populations would be an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer, Microsoft Office and Outlook applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism and confidentiality.

Hours of Work: Hours of work are Monday to Friday 0700-1500 and on weekends 1100-1900, scheduled on a rotational basis.  The successful candidate must be available for all shifts including days, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and needs.
